Livestock Guardian Dogs at Woodfield Kennel, New Jersey

Picture
Welcome to Woodfield Kennel's website. We are located in New Jersey less than an hour from New York and Philadelphia. We farm Kiko Goats and we have become enthusiastic owners of these noble and impressive dogs for use as guardians and around the home.
We use Working Guardian Dogs which are completely socialized but have the natural inclination to protect the people and animals that they feel responsible for. They recognize who their pack leader is and those in the pack above them (including family members and children) and defer to everyone - but take charge when left as the sole pack member "on duty".
We have found the Central Asian Shepherd to be a very calm dog. They are natural guardians of their pastures and of the home and family. Like other similar breeds, they warn off intruders by their impressive presence and of course by vocalization. Their presence and calm vigilance keeps unwanted animals away.
They make a connection with their owners and are a joy around the house when they are in.
We like our Karakachan Male a lot also and he is a formidable dog despite being not as tall as the CAS we have. We use a Maremma female who is an excellent guardian also.
